Good Words no.23

Productivity, routine, and fullness.

It can feel like the hubbub around the New Year and making plans dies out as soon as people get back to work after the holidays. This, I think,  says more about how compressed our experience of time is in 20xx than it is about the value of reflecting and resolving. But here we are at the tail end of January 2022, and I can tell you I have zero interest in becoming my best self this year.

Instead of trying to do more (and more and more), I'm going to try to be. Instead of endless self-optimization, I will resolve to be present and grateful. Who knows, maybe our best selves are those who can receive the sunlit hours, few as they may be in January, as a gift (again and again).

I hope you enjoy the readings below.
